How does Intergiro protect my money?

Intergiro is a regulated Electronic Money Institution, authorised and supervised by Finansinspektionen (the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority) under the Swedish Electronic Money Act (2011:755), license 48003. Your money with Intergiro is safeguarded according to strict legal requirements.

  • Segregated funds: All client funds are kept separate from Intergiro’s own funds. We hold your money in ring-fenced accounts with partner banks within the EU. This ensures your money is protected and cannot be used by Intergiro for its own purposes.

  • Insolvency protection: In the unlikely event of Intergiro’s insolvency, customer funds are prioritised and returned to clients before any company debts are settled. This safeguarding requirement is a legal obligation, providing an extra layer of security for your money.

  • No lending: As an electronic money institution, Intergiro does not and cannot lend out your money to third parties. Your funds remain secure and available for you at all times.

  • Deposit Guarantee Schemes: Funds held with Intergiro are not covered by national deposit guarantee schemes (such as government depositor protection schemes), as Intergiro is not a bank. Instead, your funds are protected by strict safeguarding measures required by law.

How does Intergiro keep my account and card secure?

We use advanced fraud detection, data encryption, and strong authentication to protect your account and card. These measures help prevent unauthorised or fraudulent access.

If suspicious activity is detected, we may restrict certain transactions or contact you for confirmation.

What do I need to do to protect my account?

To help keep your account and card secure, please ensure:

  • Your account credentials (including API keys and card details) are kept safe and never stored together with your card or the device you use for Intergiro.

  • You use a unique, strong password for your Intergiro account and update it regularly.

  • No third party is allowed to use your account, card, or related services.

  • You contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access, your card is lost or stolen, or suspect your credentials may have been compromised.
